Sub-Zero vs Scorpion, Fatality

Years ago, when I was in elementary school or middle school, don’t remember,  I told a friend of mine I could draw Sub-Zero’s fatality.  This one was the fatality from the first MK on the SNES, where he does a deep freeze on the opponent, and back fist shatters him.  Then, I went home, and promptly failed in my attempt to illustrate this.  I made a ton of excuses as to why I didn’t actually pull this off, but, the reality was, I just wasn’t good enough at the time to do it.
Fast forward more than 15 years, and I found the guy on facebook.  We got reacquainted and what not, and then, about a year later, I see his birthday coming up, and I remember this pic I said I would do for him.  I could have easily just said happy birthday, and been done with it.  But, I hadn’t stopped thinking about how I didn’t come through on this for him all those years ago.  That, in and of itself, wasn’t a big deal.
But, the thing is, this person actually kind of saved my life.  He was one of the few friends I had, and helped keep me out of trouble quite often.  I hadn’t realized how effective a safety net he was, until we got to high school, and weren’t around each other as much.   So, for all he’d done for me, this is, literally, the least I could do for him.
Also about the picture, the character being shattered is Scorpion, it’s just difficult to see because he’s covered in ice, and, well, shattering.  I used yellow mist to replace blood, bone, and organs because I always hated Scorpion, the undead ninja, bleeding when he got hit.  The mist represents the damned soul evacuating his undead body.  I threw in the darkened background later to further add the “FATALITY” look.  I had actually made a video for this, but couldn’t decide on what music to place in it, so I just decided to go ahead and post the piece, sans video.
