Like the most recent pieces, this is based on a photo of Chante Moore from the sleeve of her album “Exposed”. This ended up taking more time than it really should have. It started out as a simple picture with a woman, and blew up into a whole Samba collage. I got a few pictures out of it I’ll use later, and one I used for this, which I’ll get to later. Anyway, I could see it was just not going to work, and started again from scratch this morning, at around 12:00.
After a week and three days of work, I started again here. In Sketchbook Pro 2011, I drafted the body of the model I’d eventually use in the final piece.
And here’s that picture colored. I put the make up on because I had first intended to have the environment be sort of like a photo shoot. That idea took a backseat, as you’ll see in the end.
While looking for a background reference, I came across a King Magazine cover with a beach & seaside view. With one of the pictures I already had from the failed Samba pic, I decided to do a sandy, coastal background, and incorporate the corresponding image.
And this is the picture that got pulled over, a tsunami…..
…..like so. I combined the pictures in Photoshop Elements.
And here’s the whole thing pulled together. Once I had all the necessary pictures in place, I added the shawl in Sketchbook Pro. That’s because I wanted it to be transparent, and doing that part last is the only way I know how to do it.
