This is what I started before I got to the Green Hornet picture. I had, for a while, wanted to do a picture of the X-Men’s real 1st Class. There were so many starts and stops with this, and I finally got around to this and finished. So, here we go.
For years, he was my favorite of all the X-Men. This picture of him has a uniform that I slapped together, right up to the point of finishing this piece. It’s literally an amalgam of various uniforms over the years, most notably, the 90’s version mixed with the Ultimate version.
With Angel, I had been trying to get his full body in the picture, and just never could. I just decided to draw the whole thing and figure it out later. His costume isn’t mine at all, just a costume I saw online while looking for reference photos of him.
Beast’s uniform is based off of a uniform I saw from an artist who’s name I can’t recall. It’s basically the same for the most part, with the exception of the neckerchief, which I got from Frank Quitely’s design during Grant Morrison’s run on The New X-Men.
Iceman’s uniform is based mostly on Frank Quitely’s design as well. It’s the exact uniform with the exception of the hoodie, I added that myself.
Next, Phoenix. Really nothing special here, just a picture with her regular Phoenix uniform.
And finally, the Chairman himself, Professor X. I used the wheel chair from the 90’s X-Men. Yes, the large, bulky weaponized wheel chair.
The Blackbird & X emblem are the last pieces of the picture. Afterwards, I went through the motions, combining all the pieces in Photoshop.
