Storm

       Now, this is what delayed my uploading of the Magneto pic. While surfing the web during some downtime, I came across Project: Rooftop, a popular site, featuring various pieces of fan art. I saw they were calling for Storm artwork (http://www.tencentticker.com/projectrooftop/2013/07/25/project-rooftop-announces-storm-contest/), and, almost immediately, got to work. I only needed to make one concept, everything else was tweaked from there.
       The piece is supposed to be Storm amid the clouds of a storm she conjured in the background. The costume is mostly based off of her current uniform, minus the cleavage opening. With one of the constant criticisms of female superheroes being the unnecessary show of skin, I thought it’d be dickish of me to add any, even though that’s one of the attributes of the current uniform. For the gloves & boots, I increased the size of each, and used the design of her uniform’s torso a the basis for them.
  For her hair, I wanted to do something that combined the different styles she’s had over the years. But I wanted to give her actual nine ether hair, instead of the straight hair used in the comics. And so, she got a Frohawk, and braids on each side of her head. The idea was that they’d come together in the back, like a pony tail, and merged in to various thick dreadlocks, sometimes called “dooky braids”.
