This picture I did for my brother. He wanted a picture of Magneto that I did awhile back, but I didn’t like it much personally. I actually did this, like, a week ago, just getting to posting in now. The reason I took so long to post it was because I saw a call for Storm pictures on Project: Rooftop, and got to work on that.
There were a lot of different concepts I did for this, and none of them I stuck with. I just wasn’t getting the look I wanted. And so, I went online to find reference photos of any kind. I typed in “throne”, and, during my search, found a photo of WoW’s Litch King. That became the reference for what the final piece turned into.
In the picture, Magneto is supposed to be sitting in his throne room on Asteroid M, with Earth in view behind him, outside of the window. He is flanked on his right by his daughter Wanda Maximoff, aka. The Scarlet Witch, and Pietro Maximoff, aka. Quicksilver taking point.
For the video, I used track 37 from Bryan Singer’s first X-Men, from the year 2000. The music was composed by Michael Kamin if I’m not mistaken.
